میل سوزن

 a bar on a sewing or knitting machine for holding the needle or needles.
This is a steel rod that holds the needle at the lower end. Needle is fixed by means of a clamp. Its main function is to give the needle the required motion. A groove is provided in the bar for holding the needle in appropriate position.
The needle bar is fixed to a V-shaped groove, and the pin from the disc fits in the groove. The circular motion of the pin translates into a vertical motion of the needle bar. These machines stop the needle motion when the needle is at its lowest point so that the shuttle or hook can catch the thread loop
